A great middle chapter to the trilogy!
This book is a fantastic entry into what is becoming one of my favorite series! Picking up from the previous book, this one follows Vasya as she deals with the aftermath of the events of The Bear and the Nightingale. I love how this book builds on the first one by maintaining the enchanting magical feel while adding in a sense of epicness to the story. The new characters were complex and likeable, and the returning characters were developed in a really interesting way. I especially loved Vasya and her horse in this book!
The plot was really unpredictable, which kept me continuously engaged with the book. I loved the action-packed moments, but this book really shines in the quiet character moments. The romance was also perfect! I would give this book a perfect 5 stars! Overall, I highly recommend this book and this series to anyone interested in fantasy, especially fairytales.
