I was excited to win this book since I am a Southern girl and like supporting Southern writers. The book cover is gorgeous. I looked forward to learning more about Fredericksburg, Texas. This book had a large cast of characters so they were hard to keep track of to me. It took me a while but I finally was able to keep everyone straight. They were all related in some form or other. The annual fair is a great catalyst to bring the characters all together. The build-up was like watching a bad storm building up slowly. it became even more ominous as the story continues. I will admit I struggled to finish this one but forced myself to finish. Lots of family drama which I typically enjoy. It was nice to read this during this horrible global pandemic. This is a place I would love to visit in real life someday if the pandemic ever ends. Thanks again for the book.
