I read this book in one sitting. I thought that the scenery was perfect. From the struggling of the small downtown to the interweaving of the lives of the citizens, the story all came together for me.
I thought that the start of the book, with the fire destroying one of the last remaining businesses in town, really had nothing to do with the story. I thought that it would actually be more pertinent to the story.
The book is all about one man's obsession on redesigning his family and the town that he loves into one that is more commercially viable and the lengths in which he will do it.
I felt that the characters needed a little bit more fullness to them. The descriptions of the cars and the buildings were as much characters as the people were.
Overall, I thought that this was a well written, entertaining book, that showed a slice of rural, struggling America.
