The Gillespie County Fair is one of the best books that I have read this year. It's about small town life, and how it changes when a town falls into the tourist trap. It's full of the good ol boy network, and how it can be both advantageous or harmful. It closely resembles the small town that I grew up in Pennsylvania. The family dynamics are intertwined between different families bound by marriages and pregnancies. People pull together when needed, and force others out when necessary. It mainly filled one family and their branches. It's about new beginnings, old feuds, and hope. The book starts out with families getting ready for the county fair. After the fair is over, the story ends.
