I have to admit to a small reluctance to read about Texas and I don't know why. But the cover of the book - ferris wheel and bright lights - called to me so I decided to give it a try. The writing is so descriptive - I found myself smiling at the description of Carel careening around the house at the beginning, and cringing at Willow cutting herself. But the story feels too reminiscent of "Dallas" for me, and I don't know that I would be interested in going beyond this excerpt.
