This sounds like a good contemporary novel, with a little bit of town history and the family traditions intertwined. Carel seems like quite the interesting character, and I wonder what he is planning on doing with the land he just "bought" in kind of a shady deal, however he did save that man from jail time for insurance fraud. Willow kind of reminds me of my own daughter, with how her relationship with her father is, very similar. It seems that Carel is only out for benefiting himself and it would be interesting to see how this story plays out and if Willow can ever come to see her father, as a father.
