I loved it until the end
The characters in this book are amazing. Hands down one of the best team of thieves ever, and that's saying something because it's such a classic trope. The diverse characters working together for a common goal, respecting each other and learning and growing together even gave me a "Firefly" feel which is high praise. The author successfully showed the readers why Severin is the leader. He's smart, quick thinking, and always thinking about his team. The chapters were filled with danger, character growth, and hilarious jokes after a tense scene. I raved about it to my family as I read.
But then the last few chapters came and everything changed. No jokes. No growth. I know some people like that kind of ending so it might be the perfect book for you but I didn't like it. In my mind, it should have ended multiple chapters ago, before all the character development was lost, back when the characters made jokes. But, that is just my personal opinion. The book was well written. The description was magical and delightful. The world was intriguing. If it wasn't for the ending, I'd give it five stars.
