Gorgeous world building and fantastically vibrant characters!

Taking place in 1889 in an alternate-universe Paris filled with magic and glamour, The Gilded Wolves is about a group of friends and their criminal hijinks that finally go awry. The world was the sexy, fashionable world of Paris combined with a new magic system and a touch of old-world charm, all written in such a precise way that it was almost like it was being painted before your eyes. The characters were so wildly vivid and eccentric and so unique and lovable. They were beautifully diverse, both in ethnicity and sexuality, and I was so pleased to see a Filipino starring in a fantasy novel! I'm pretty sure that was a first that I have read. The plot was twisty and full of adventure and danger that had me on the edge of my seat wondering if the heroes made it through. There's also a really unique love triangle that adds that perfect dab of romance, but was even better because it wasn't the traditional YA love triangle that tends to get boring in a story. In short, Gilded Wolves has everything you could want and more in a YA fantasy novel! Roshani Chokshi has an amazing way with words where she paints such a bright, vibrant picture of the world she wants you to see, but also has unique character perspectives that give the reader a different feel for each character! I loved The Gilded Wolves and can't wait for the next in the series!
