We start off in the year 1889 just when the Exposition Universelle has made a change for the city and ancient secrets are brought back. Our main character is a treasure hunter and a wealthy hotelier Séverin Montagnet who is recruited to help find these ancient treasures. Of course when you go on a mission you have to include members. These members have various things about them that somewhat make and interesting group. When I first started reading this book it was hard to get connected with the characters and the plot. The writing style to me was okay and I continued the book hoping it would get better and I was wrong. I almost DNF the book as I found it confusing throughout and never made a connection with the characters.
