Paris? Magic? The Art Deco movement? I knew this book was going to be great, as someone who loves Roshani Chokshi's writing, but gosh I had no idea it was going to be this good. I absolutely love how well-developed each character is, and how personal their stories felt. (I love all of them so much, but I have to say Laila is probably my favorite) The cast of characters is incredibly diverse, including mixed characters, an autistic character, and two LGBTQIA+ characters. But the diversity doesn't feel forced at all; in fact, it only contributes further to why these characters choose to work together to achieve their goal. I've seen this book compared to Six of Crows before, and having read and loved both, I can say that they have similar premises, but are incredibly different in execution. The Gilded Wolves is a beautiful story about so many different themes, and it's a trilogy I'd like to come back to once I complete it. The story just sucks you into another world, and it was so wonderfully brilliant.
