First of all, the cover is gorgeous. Secondly, I was captivated by the writing style from the line, "Punctuality, with its unseemly whiff of eagerness, was for peasants."
But most importantly, this is the kind of book I love to read: an unlikely team running around a rich historic setting seeking a powerful object. And the action hits the ground running right from the opening pages. Right away, I wanted to know more about Forging and the Houses. I'm hooked.
