Oh what a wondrous mix of mystery and history. The author gives such a glance into the mysterious ways of the European world back before the countries were mixed together and somewhat homogenized. Before it was safe to be interested in what others did or said, before it was even thought of that "someone" is watching you. This is certainly a book worthy of reading.
