You cannot tell this book by its cover. The plain girl walking in front of a nondescript house says nothing of the story. The story begins with detailed descriptions of Eva's family and the family restaurant. There is alot of love and caring between the family members. You feel that they are so close that are no secrets between them. Then a call from a prosecutor requests Eva's presence at a deposition. She is asked to translate testimony for the upcoming trial of Germans who ran and worked at Auschwitz. Later, as she reads a news story about the upcoming trial, she sees a picture of Auschwitz guards. To get a clearer view of the faces in the picture, she picks up her Mother's magnifying glass. As she gazes at the faces, you are wondering, does she see a familiar face?
