I absolutely love reading novels set during the WWII era. The reason this novel piqued my interest is because of the unique perspective through the eyes and experiences of a young, impressionable German girl, post-war, who is unaware of the atrocities that occurred at the hands of her fellow countrymen. Through reading this novel, I believe the author is trying to humanize individuals that have been written in a different light by others.
