The first 50 pages didn't really grab me.

After reading the main summary I was excited to try this one. On the brighter side of things, the writing seems intelligent, with a highly detailed third person perspective. The plentiful conversations between the characters flow in a natural way. My main problem is that the unfolding events weren't really enthralling and the characters don't strike me as particularly interesting yet. I might like this after reading more of it. But as a sneak preview through the first fifty pages, it seems too focused on minor-seeming elements and details that seem trivial. There could certainly be more than meets the eye.
