I am endlessly fascinated by WWII novels. It’s obviously a popular trend right now in historical fiction, but what I love most about this particular novel is that is provides a fresh perspective on the war crime aspect. So many stories focus on how people survived, and what they did or didn’t do in order to protect themselves and their families, but this actually is a book like looks back to acknowledge what was done and how to prosecute those who perpetrated the crimes. I’m not sure I’ve read a novel that focused on that before, so I am eager to read it!
