I am always interested and worried about books that use historical events as the backdrop to a story about character development. My concern here is that the WW2 trials might not be given the weight that they need seeing that they are more of a setting for another story rather than the focus. I know that might seem odd and don't get me wrong, the excerpt that I got to read looked really lovely and read very nicely, but I am just worried that my own knowledge of the events of WW2 would make it hard for me to pay attention to one woman's story when I know there is so much else of great importance going on in the background.
