Interesting Character Study
Eva Bruhns is an interesting character whose whole belief system is turned upsidedown. She is expected to follow the normal course of getting married and becoming a housewife. However, when she is asked to be a translator for the Frankfurt War Trials, she must face difficult questions of the collective culpability of her nation and her own family.
I am looking forward to reading this book, especially since it was written by a German author who is undoubtedly familiar with the emotional trauma in dealing with the embarrassment and remorse people suffered after the war.
