Disclaimer: When I saw that Siddhartha Mukherjee had blurbed this book, it immediately caught my attention.

I have some vested interest in the intersection of medicine with genetics, and a good amount of the information and history in the excerpt is common knowledge to me. Nevertheless, I learned a few new things and expect that the rest of the book is filled with illuminating information about the development and promise of genetic sequencing and its ongoing use in medicine. The writing style is what I find to be typical of popular science books - a personal and casual voice that isn't too technical, sprinkled with anecdotes and jokes to keep the reader's interest.
