This is not typically the kind of book I would pick up, but I actually really enjoyed this excerpt. Dr. Euan Ashley finds a way to make this topic digestible for the average reader and uses anecdotes interspersed with science and history to talk about the genome. I also like how he frames the medical mysteries that he mentions come up later in the book. The preface made me particularly interested to read about the detective work that goes into analyzing the genome.
