One of the things that I always found frustrating about Science Fiction was that it is almost always told from the male gaze. Even if the main character is female there is a male narrative tone that I always find, exhausting. Newitz changes this in the best way possible.

Not only is this book wonderfully full of 90's grrrl rock and tropes that bring a smile to my face BUT, it might be the truest feminist, queer, science fiction book I have read for YEARS.There is a scary undertone that reminds me a little bit of the Handmaid's tale with the idea of men suppressing women in the future but one of our protagonists decides to proactively try to stop the madness unlike Ofred who doesn't really kick into rebel gear until the end of the story.

Do yourself a favor and read this book! It is wonderful and worth your time :)
