I am such a fan of Annalee Newitz's writing! I loved the idea. Time travelers who "edit" history make alternate timelines where women's rights are being taken away and the time traveling women who stop it--what a thought-provoking and timely book! I enjoyed the way Newitz introduced each character and then curated their relationships, slowly revealed the depth. The book is mainly written following Beth, a young girl in California, and Tess, a time traveling geologist. I found that I enjoyed Tess's chapters more, since I wanted to see travel and continue the fight for rights! When you finally get to the intersection of their journeys, it made me appreciate the back story more as it showed Tess's motivation.

My favorite quote is from Tess, and it neatly sums up the plot of the story: "I lay back on the cushions and watched our shadows merge on the ceiling, thirteen bodies wavering in and out of becoming one. There were more of us beyond this room, all along the timeline. Some were organized subversives, and others were only half-aware that something was wrong in the world. We were fighting for liberation, or revenge, or maybe for a simple night of pleasure without shame. We were fighting to save each other, though we didn't know each other."
