The plot is simple. An ex-movie star, Lana Farrar, and her friends vacation for the weekend on a remote Greek island and one of them is murdered. Elliott Chase, a playwright and Lana's dear friend, is our narrator and is one of the most unreliable narrators I have had the pleasure of reading. Elliott tells the story through his POV but also through the other guests' POV. This leads to many things the reader believes to be true in one chapter to be proven false a few chapters later. As the characters try to out wit each other, the reader is pulled, pushed and dragged through a story full of twists and turns and emerged in juicy secrets and lies. As the plot evolves and the truth reveals itself, I realize how cleaver our author Mr. Michaelides is as several times I was tricked and unsure what was happening until it was all neatly wrapped up in an astonishing ending. The final surprise on the second to last page of the book blew me away!

In the end, this is a story of revenge, obsession, hatred but above all love. I highly recommend this book for readers who love thrillers and especially unreliable narrators.
