This was good fun, and I read this in virtually one sitting, hardly able to put it down. I was in the market for an easy escape after some weightier recent reads, so this delivered. I also always enjoy the thriller trope of everyone being stuck on an island (though others have done this better).

I think if you stop and think about the story too much, you might get bogged down in some points that are a bit unbelievable or thin in plot. I didn't have the experience of ducking in and out of this over a week, and I think if I had read this slower, I might have liked it less. Unfortunately, if you are looking for the second Silent Patient, this just isn't the same caliber. BUT, if you are looking for a quick, fun vacation escape novel, this does the trick.

I will say I feel a bit bad giving this such a lackluster review because I saw the author on his book tour, and he was so charming and transparent about his writing process and his own demons. I really wanted to love this, but I just didn't.
