This had so much potential. I read this because my book club picked it for April. The Silent Patient was excellent so I was expecting something similar. It started off good. The narrator kept promising to make things clear for the reader and to explain the whole situation. It keeps you in suspense for too long without any real explanation. The plot twist was not one that I enjoyed although it was not expected. It says that it is a whydunit instead of a whodunnit so it sets the reader up to believe that this book will be something original and interesting, unfortunately it doesn’t deliver. I had such high expectations for this book but I guess not every book can’t deliver a great story. It wasn’t a bad book but because of the author, Alex Michaelides, and the phenomenal success of his last novel it just left me feeling disappointed. I would recommend reading this book only if you haven’t read his other books.
