Packed with more drama than a Greek tragedy, THE FURY is a thriller told in five acts by an unreliable narrator, one of my favorite tropes. Have you ever noticed that in a friend group, there is always a hierarchy of power? Lana Farrar is a reclusive ex–movie star and one of the most famous women in the world. Every year, she invites her closest friends to escape the English weather and spend Easter on her idyllic private Greek island. The fury of the winds keeps the group on the island, much like Odysseus and his crew finding themselves trapped on the island of Helios with his forbidden sheep and cattle.

Back to the hierarchy of power...there is someone within the group who has been concealing some pent-up rage for quite some time; feeling like they had to scramble and claw for bits of attention that was given to others so freely. After a somewhat slow start in act one with the introduction of all the players, the action picks up tremendously with a cunning game of cat and mouse that of course ends with a murder.

This was such a layered, detailed plot, and you will find yourself paying attention to every little crumb of information, trying to deduce who the killer is. Never would I have guessed the clever turns this story would take.

So many thanks to Celadon Books for sending me an early copy of this thriller that will publish on January 16, 2024.
