I finished this book in a day and a half because I could not put it down! I enjoyed the way that the story is written in a messy order as if the narrator is actually sitting down at the bar and telling you the story, which he says himself in the novel. The back and forth of the story really felt like I was talking to a friend about a series of unfortunate events. The story itself is like nothing else I've read. I'm a big mystery/thriller fan and the plot twists upon plot twists I never saw coming. I liken it to the Knives Out movies, between the array of characters as well as the plot twists. I also enjoyed having an "unreliable narrator". Several times throughout, Elliott mentions that he is trying his best to recount things as they actually were, but he cannot guarantee that everything is entirely accurate. The setting of the story really played into the mysticism of the final part of the book and how quickly it got out of hand. Overall, this is a book I would but for friends and family to read just so I had someone to talk about it with, as well as I think they would enjoy it.
