I absolutely LOVE how Michaelides started this off. The narrator's conversational tone really did make me feel like I was "sitting on a barstool" with him listening to this sordid and terrifying tale of murder. The narration actually reminded me of a play, but in a good way: I felt like I got a strong impression of our narrator from the very start and instantly feel a sort of 'trust' listening to him tell his tale. I love the way the scene was set with so little and that the chapters are short and intense...it left me aching to know more! I have a feeling this book might be right up there with The Silent Patient as my favorite book of his, and I cannot wait to continue reading!
