This is my first impression of a Prologue and a short first chapter. It was so short, in fact, that I was neither impressed by nor turned away from the story. My only impression is of the narrator. I liked him right away simply because he understands the type of paragraph that a reader would tend to skip or at least skim.
Because the short chapter gave me no impression of the story, I would have to depend on my impressions of the two other books I read by this author. Fine, I suppose they were fine but no great shakes, certainly not as great as all the reviews said they were, just fine.
As for the cover, do you really care what I think of it? I will say that it reminds me of the leftover Halloween candy I ate yesterday. :-)
