I had a difficult time with this read. I was very excited to see that it took place in Washington, DC, as I live in the suburbs of Maryland. The best part of the book for me was recognizing all the landmarks and towns around DC. That's always a fun novelty when reading a book. The main character was so unlikeable, even from the very first pages. It was difficult to have any sympathy for her or to be invested into her story and who was stalking her. This dissipated a bit once we began to understand her family background and met more of Leona in the story. Leona was even more unlikeable than the main character. The scenes with Leona were difficult to read because her cruelty was so obvious and blatant. I feel that I would have been invested in the storyline and the mystery more if I had liked Claire a bit more.
