The Friday Cage is a thriller set in DC.

Claire Chastain blows up her life, leaving her boyfriend and job in New York City and fleeing to Washington, DC to arrange for her grandmother to move into a nursing home.

Now she has a more junior job in DC and her close childhood friend has died after leaving her a cryptic message about passing the torch to her. Only, he supposedly died from alcohol poisoning but doesn’t drink.

The pieces of this book are a bit scattered; but a thriller set in DC was too difficult to pass up. There’s some odd character development on Claire: she’s almost a two-dimensional character with too obvious and overdrawn traits. Still, I enjoyed reading the book. It was sad and had me Googling kidney ailments at one point. And I enjoyed learning about Faraday cages.
