The novel appears to be fairly typical of the suspense/stalker genre, centred around a female character named Claire. Unfortunately, the intro hasn’t given all that much else to go on.
While we learn more about Claire, how driven she is, how much weight she’s lost, how she’s gone through a break up.... not much actually happens in the intro. Sure there’s the obvious death mentioned in the first chapter, but that seems to be skirted to the side in order to focus on Claire’s character and, while I’m sure her weight loss may well factor in to the story, it feels like the narrative voice is lost and too heavily focused on details which aren’t relevant.
Perhaps if the genre is your sort of thing then this will pique your interest but for me, it would have to be a pass.
