I thought the first few chapters of this book were intriguing and certainly interesting, but I didn't feel completely pulled into the story or the characters. Several things were going on, both past and present, but I failed to see where the story was headed or what conflict Claire faced besides an ominous man following her in an old Lincoln and how this fit in to her lost relationship with Peter, her ailing grandmother, and the death of her friend Gavin. I also thought the author was maybe trying a bit too hard to force the "strong woman" aspect of the character -- some of the lines were a bit cringe-worthy. Part of this may be directly related to her past growing up with her grandmother -- I hope it at least serves a purpose later on in the book.
