Adventurous kids
I picked up this book not being familiar with the prior adventures of Artemis Fowl. While I wish I'd had that backstory, I don't feel like I really missed out on anything. Obviously, I'm reviewing this book as an adult reading a middle grade novel, so anything I write should not necessarily be construed to translate to the enjoyment of a youngster.
This book was surprisingly good for a middle grade novel. Although there were moments when i rolled my eyes at some of the absurdity, i suspected that a tween might really appreciate it. There were a lot of big words which will either enhance a kid's vocabulary or lead to such confusion that the book will be put down. I’ll pass this on to my nephew and see what his thoughts are.
