This is my first adventure in the world of Artemis Fowl. This focus of this book is Beckett and Myles Fowl— twin brothers who seem very different. Myles is the genius who thinks he can outsmart anyone ( and usually can) and Beckett is the athlete, ninja, superhero all in one. To quote the book, Myles thinks, Beckett does.
The book begins as the twins are left alone in their family fortress located on an island with only NANNI (an artificial intelligence system) to watch over them. Soon enough they are: embroiled in a plot involving a troll and a fairy and then kidnapped by a nefarious secret organization hell bent on using them as fairy bait. At the same time the troll is being pursued by the villainous Lord Bleedham-Drye. The action is nonstop and the book is also very funny. I think my nine year old son will find it hilarious.
