I read and loved the original Artemis Fowl series, but I fear this spin off might be overmilking the cow. First off, the original series grabbed you and sucked you in because you were fascinated with this unknown world that Artemis was bringing you into. Now, we already know all of the secrets of this world, and Artemis isn't even present. I get that we're focusing on the twins, but did we really need to send him all the way to space? Also, the twins just aren't as captivating as Artemis was. Especially Beckett. I can see me getting annoyed with Beckett real quick. Everything just felt way more over-the-top than before, so ludicrous that I struggled to even finish the excerpt. I don't know if it's because I'm older or what, but this doesn't seem like something I'll enjoy.
