While I have never personally read any of the Artemis Fowl series, I was pleasantly surprised to read this sneak peek. It was altogether wonderfully descriptive and witty and entertaining. I have a personal soft spot for books with copious amounts of detail in order to fully immerse myself in the fantasy. What this book did was paint the walls of my room without me even noticing. Before I knew it, I was fully immersed in this world - a world of potions and magic and the fountain of youth - meeting the longevity hungered Lord Teddy, seeing the antics of the Fowl twins, learning of the new technologies. While I enjoyed that the villains and the protagonists were clearly introduced, I only have one small criticism, based on personal opinion. I like for readers to be able to feel sympathy toward the villains, to be conflicted on who to support. Altogether, I greatly enjoyed reading this excerpt and hope to read more.
