This book was absolutely enchanting. The writing was lyrical and heartbreaking and hopeful. Ruta Sepetys is one of my auto-read authors because her books are so incredibly moving and beautiful. This book was no exception, as it explored war, pain, classism, power (and lack thereof) alongside love, simple joys, bravery, and strength to create a story that highlights humanity's lows and highs on the same page. I think the best thing about Ruta Sepetys' books is that it forces you to be introspective about your own values, actions, and morals without feeling preachy or condescending. Every book she releases instantly becomes a favorite and a classic in my eyes. If you are looking for a book that will break you down while it builds you up, look no further.
