Fountains of Silence is my first Rupta Sepetys novel. Usually you know not to judge a book by its cover but in this case that's exactly what I did! I love the classic look of the woman looking off to the distance. Next knowing that the novel takes place in Spain in the 50's something that I don't see enough of, I knew I wanted to read this.
I can see why Rupta Sepetys's books are so well liked. I love the flow of the writing and was drawn into the setting so quickly. The story itself was heart wrenching at times and I could understand why the characters reacted the way that did.
Getting a new look into postwar Spain was a bonus and I hope to see more authors writing historical fiction do something like this too!
