Let me preface this by saying I despise historical fiction. I just can’t get into it and I find it so hard to find a good historical fiction novel that speaks to me. This book however, it doesn’t matter if you hate every single thing about historical fiction, this book will blow you away. The historical accuracy and the attention to detail is extremely admirable, and it was so easy to feel like you were in Spain in the 1950s. The contrast of the compassion and love that the characters have to the utter bleakness that spain is going through was very interesting to read. Some of the characters were so easy to love while others were extremely easy to hate, and this whole book just makes you think. I loved it so much!
