This was one of my top books of the year last year. I have always been a sucker for historical fiction. Ruta Sepetys always finds a way to bring a not well known part of history into the limelight.
Through her amazing characters we are able to see two sides of Spain. There is our American tourist Daniel, who is a photographer and then there is the hotel worker Ana. Ana shows Daniel a side of Madrid that he didn't know about before. Through his photography Daniel learns about Madrid and the dark secrets that the town and country try to hide from others. I found myself tearing through this book, wanting to know what happens next.
If you are a history lover, trust me you will want to pick up and read this book!
