I've been putting this one off for a random day because Ruta Sepetys is one of my favorite authors. So after having some trouble starting other books, I gave in and read this and was not disappointed. This follows the events in Madrid after the Spanish Civil War. Sepetys writes in a similar structure to her Salt to the Sea book but in the third person. We follow a series of characters through quick snapshots as we follow their lives across one summer in Spain then 18 years later as all the stories come together. I was a little unsatisfied by the ending, it was cleaned up a little too nice compared to some of her other books, but I'm glad I spent the time with the book.

If you haven't checked out a book by Ruta Sepetys, this is a good one, but Out of the Easy is still my favorite. 1950s New Orleans? Focuses on a brothel. I'm still obsessed with that book. She's hands down one of my favorite authors.
