Historical fiction books are always my top favorites but I loved how this book incorporated inserts of real history and quotes from the time of Franco’s reign from various different sources. It really painted the picture of the Spanish people vs the Americans visiting for business and pleasure. This story followed the lives of Ana, who was a Spaniard, and Daniel, who was visiting with family from the United States. The obstacles they had to go through just to be able to have a conversation and the lessons Daniel learned through his curiosity and photography are unparalleled. I didn’t want the story to stop as I wanted to know more and more about what the Spanish people went through during that period and if all the babies were ever reunited with their families. This was a magical book and one I would recommend to anyone.
