I loved this YA historical fiction so very much! Gorgeous setting, beautiful character development and a history I didn't know much about.
I loved the two main characters - Ana and Daniel. The unfolding of each of their stories was well done and I was eager to see how their stories would continue to intersect. I also really enjoyed the supporting characters - Ana's siblings in particular.
I didn't know much about Spain under Franco's rule. I thought Sepetys brought the Spanish culture and history to life through her descriptive story telling. I appreciated the history as much as the storyline.
This is classified as a YA and the characters are teens but it didn't feel like it was specifically written for that age group.
