This a stunning YA novel from an amazing author. This book shines a light on a time period that we all know but in a place that many know much about. I love the characters! They are so real and relatable. I cared about them from the moment I met them. The setting is beautifully described and I felt like I was really there. I can’t wait to share it with students. So often YA historical fiction is based on either of the works wars. There are of course other fine periods and places noticedbyt these are the most common. This book is entirely original and draws the reader into the past. I like the cover but at the same time I don’t. I personally don’t like yellow but that is entirely personal preference. I don’t like models on book covers either but somehow this works.
