Such depth, many different perspectives and so much historical information.

"The Fountains of Silence" is a superb historical fiction about Spain under the rule of Dictator Franco.

Ana works at the Castellano Hilton Hotel who falls for Daniel, an aspiring photojournalist from Texas. Puri is Ana's cousin who works at the Catholic orphanage. Rafa, Ana's brother works in the cemetery and the slaughter house. Each character is plagued with secrets and pain. As the secrets unravel, we learn of some atrocities which occurred during Franco's reign.

The first part of the book was excellent. However, I took off one star because the end did drag out more than was necessary. I learned quite a bit about the history of Spain that I wasn't previously aware of.
