I've been wanting to read this since the author posted the cover on Twitter. I wanted to know more. The sepia tone and the woman open the door to past I know almost nothing of. Instantly drawn in by the author's note of Franco's Spain -- the history, the pain, the people. To see Franco's name with Hitler and Mussolini sets the tone for the coming story.

The layers of mystery begin as Rafa is pulled from the present with a nightmare. Each character -- Rafa, Ana, Daniel, Puri, Julia all intertwined in way that leaves you on the edge of your seat. You can feel the fear from the Spaniards and the idealistic-ness of the American.

This first look set up the characters nicely. I can't wait to see how their stories continue to intersect. This first look left me wanting more. Each quote starting a chapter giving away a little more of life in Franco's Spain.
