From the first look, it seems interesting but lacking enough to grab a reader. The topic of the Spanish civil war and the aftermath is not dragged out like other historical fiction timeframes so it will be something that readers may actually learn something as well as enjoy the storyline. I’ll be interested to see if this holds up to Sepetys other books. In terms of the cover, nothing really special. It could be any historical fiction novel.
