How much do you know about Spain under Francisco Franco? The Spanish Civil War? Personally, I know very little. It happened, Franco was supported by Hitler and Mussolini, and he was in power for many years. But The Fountains of Silence promises a captivating story of the lives of ordinary Spaniards and an American tourist as Franco was beginning to selectively open Spain up to the world. Quotes from government documents and other primary sources are woven in-between chapters and reinforce the reality of this story. I've read Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys, and this promises to be just as dynamic and engrossing a read.
