What I enjoyed about the first few pages of this book was the constant theme of fear and secrecy. All of the characters introduced in the first few pages gave me a vivid picture of what life was like in Madrid in 1957. I look forward to delving deeper into this version of Madrid which I was so oblivious to where keeping secrets has become a survival method.
The cover and title had me hooked from the beginning, especially with the attention to detail. I love how the book is colored in yellow tones but there is a singular red spot to catch your eye.
